The Alton Fire Department is located in the town of Sodus, Wayne County which is located in western New York State. We provide fire, rescue and EMS response to the residents of the fire district and protective districts located in the towns of Sodus and Huron. We also respond under the Wayne County Mutual Aid Plan to assist neighboring departments. The district primarily consists of agricultural, commercial and residential properties.

The Fire Department was established in 1926. We have evolved from a one engine operation to now house two engines, a light rescue, brush truck and a BLS ambulance. Our newest addition is an air boat which is used primarily during the winter months on surrounding bodies of water.
